Hi! I’m Lara Ketter – Owner. Baker. Sprinkle enthusiast!

I launched Purple Ribbon Cookies from my home kitchen five miles west of Tipton, Kansas, in November of 2025, right before the best time of year to sell cookies – the Christmas holidays. It was a success, with over 100 dozen cookies sold and delivered!

I grew up baking and eating Purple Ribbon Chocolate Chip Cookies – that was the official name of the recipe after my sister, Michelle, won a purple ribbon (the top prize) at the county fair with the delicious cookies.

Years later, our three children won purple ribbons at the county fair with the family recipe, sealing the Purple Ribbon Cookies name, and I made hundreds of chocolate chip cookies for their school events, birthdays, and other get-togethers; their friends were big fans!

Several years ago, the idea popped into my head to start a cookie business based on the purple ribbon recipe, and I began testing variations such as Cookies & Cream, Monster, Double Chocolate, and Loaded Peanut Butter. My family handles the tough job of taste-testing.

Here’s the deal: Each flavor sold by Purple Ribbon Cookies is based on the original chocolate chip recipe, and if a new variation doesn’t rise to the purple-ribbon standard, I won’t offer it to my customers.

My ultimate dream is to take Purple Ribbon Cookies to the next level, build a commercial kitchen, and wholesale to grocery stores, convenience stores, and other retail outlets.

Whether or not that happens, when I’m in the kitchen mixing, baking, and testing new cookie flavors, I’m truly happy.
